The Royal Commission and Watchtower - A game changer
by Hidden-Window ini had finished watching all the videos on the royal commission's investigation of jehovah's witnesses (yes, i know more videos are being released).
i am still processing the information of everything that has emerged.
i do not plan to cover it all here, but i would like to point out that it is patently obvious that some of the wt representatives provided misleading information.

Physical discipline was rampant in my congregation in the 80's and calmed down quite a bit when I left in the 90's. I belonged to a small congregation with a small kingdom hall. On Thursday nights when the congregation was barely 40ish you could hear the spankings coming from the back restrooms. -

Washington Post: JW the least willing religion to deal with child sexual abuse
by adjusted knowledge inthe church, which was founded in pennsylvania in the 1870s to promote a first century interpretation of the bible and is now headquartered in brooklyn, has emerged as the least able or willing to deal with sexual abuse within its ranks, according to annie cousins, a law professor at the university of new south wales and an expert in sex crimes who is a consultant to the inquiry.. https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/asia_pacific/jehovahs-witnesses-face-child-sex-abuse-investigation-in-australia/2015/08/14/d8a58eda-406e-11e5-9561-4b3dc93e3b9a_story.html.
now i know that annie cousins is not of the high caliber expert witness as the jw expert monica applewhite but i think cousins makes a great observation..

I hope you meant that tongue in cheek.
Yes I was trying to be facetious.
Applewhite is not an expert in child sex abuse just because she has a Doctorate degree. It's like claiming all accountants are experts in tax law.

We're All Going To Die

If our life wasn't so short I think death would be easier to accept. Most of us are so busy with work and other time sinks that we don't truly enjoy life. As I save for retirement I keep imagining what I will do in my retirement. Then I remind myself that my grandmother and grandfather both died at 61. I could spend my entire life working for a point in time and never make it.
That is why I focus on each day now. I hold my daughter and let her know each day she is loved.

My two great hopes regarding Geoffrey Jackson's RC testimony
by Esse quam videri inmy greatest hope is that when geoffrey was a youngun' that his momma taught him to 'tell the truth'.. if geoffrey does not tell the truth, my second great hope is that his momma 'wallups him, but good'.. here's hoping he doesn't 'crawfish' on the witness stand.. crawfish :

I would imagine the early days of philosophy were founded on answering questions about death. It seems to occupy us when we have free alone time to think. I think it is harder for us that for many decades believed there was a true just world coming. It saddens me as I see my parents aging knowing I may have but a couple decades left with them. I cherish our time more than ever.
Now I view the world like a nature video. It is both cruel unloving and beautiful at the same time. There are very evil people in this world who will never see justice but there isn't much we can do about it.
I just focus on my family and a career that gives me happiness.

Do video games cause bad behaviour in children?
by The Rebel inmy boy is 10 and has got very interested in pocamon cards.
( a game way to complicated for me to understand) but i've also noticed it's linked to a computer game, which seems harmless enough but i also noticed advertisements for more violent games appear.. i would value people's opinion on whether, you think video games cause bad behaviour in kids.
i should mention my kid says i limit his time on these games, much more than other children's parents, and i was thinking of reevaluating that rule.. thanks.. the rebel..

I'm sure your son appreciated you being there. I was 8 years old when I gave my first reading. It was easy having my parents there to support me. Glad I don't have to do that anymore.

"They understand what you are going through...."
Hmm they work 40+ hours a week? They have bills to pay? Do they worry about medical costs?
They are pampered and worshiped.
